It rather upsets me that you talk about so little about the game, a large amount of your commentary is just reading text or telling us what's on the screen right now.

Earthbound Zero has tons of history and things to talk about, especially since you are playing Mother 1+2 and that makes it the Japan-only version of Mother, instead of the almost-released Earthbound Zero.

For one, NoA didn't mess with Mother 1+2 because it was never even considered for American release, so censored stuff like the crow holding a cigarette and crosses on the churches (which you obviously haven't got to, so consider that a freebie) still exist.

As for the LP itself, there's a lot of stuff you missed:

- Ninten is NOT the official name of the main protagonist. He was referred to as "Bokutte" by Itoi, which simply means "Me". As in, YOU are the main protagonist. "Ninten" is the name given by Earthbound Fans that has become semi-canon because it just sounds better than "Me" and matches the console reference that Ness's name obviously is.

- Lloyd is misspelled in this version, his real name is indeed "Loid", which is a combination of a play on Lloyd and Roidomegane, which means large, thick-rimmed glasses.

- Ninten's favorite food is Prime Rib. Ness's is Steak. These are official.

- You started explaining the "Easy Ring", then stopped before you actually did so. I'll do it for you: Easy ring doubles your Exp and money, and halves the encounter rate. It's not prevalent in Mother 1+2, but was added during the translation.

Starmen.net also did an "Easy patch" of the original Earthbound Zero made by the Demiforce hackers, which essentially did the same thing but without a ring that you have to wear first, doesn't take up your ring slot (which is really needed once you get farther), and didn't effect the encounter rates (I used a game genie code that did that).

- That said, Mother 1+2's translation is done by Tomato, who went on to translate Mother 3. The orginal Earthbound Zero was translated by NoA itself, led by Phil Sandhop. Demiforce merely acquired the game through an auction and turned it into a downloadable ROM. Phil himself has come forward in around 2008 to verify that the version Demiforce got a hold of is the legit market prototype of Earth Bound.

Other issues:

- "Am I supposed to press a button or....." You DID play the game first, right? The only thing that irritates me more anything else in LP is someone bumbling through a game I love.

- If you're not funny, and you KNOW you're not funny, don't try to be funny. It won't be funny. Forced humor is terrible.

- Something horrible is going on with your frame-rate, what's the deal there? It looks like it's running at much lower than 30 FPS, which is unacceptable for a GBA emulator. I can lead you to a better emulator that I used for the last few videos of Mother 3, it runs that game at 60 FPS.

- Your enemy text clashes with the dialogue boxes in battle. I suggest you make your own boxes in gimp or something, and add them in a way that doesn't cover up the battle text.

Thanks for the information. As Ninten is the name I've heard the most of though so that's what I'm using as I've seen many of Let's plays use Ninten.
That being said, as you constantly hear me say, I didn't have my guide with me. I planned a route but forgot to have it with me.
I'll explain the backstory in the next episode since I recorded the first one at a bad time.
As for Loid's name, honest mistake on that one. I never knew it was misspelled on this version.
Ninten's favorite food is Prime Rib? That I did not know, thanks. I've seen let's plays where they use steak.
I know what the easy ring does. I forgot to continue explaining.
I knew that there was another version of the game. I chose this version of the game because it's easy to record.
I know the information about the original translation.
I know this game, I just forgot some info about it. Like pressing a button in the intro. I thought it was automatic.
I wasn't trying to be funny at any part of the episode. I laughed at the juice dialogue because it just sounded funny to me.
The frame rate issue might be on your side since I used VBA which runs games great but I'll try recording at a lower frame-rate next time.
I wanted to have the enemy text readable so I kinda left them that way. I will make boxes in the future.

Thanks for all the information, I'll explain it at the beginning of next episode.

For the enemy boxes, make use of the black space on the battle screen itself, not on top of the dialogue boxes.

For the frame rate, seems like it's Youtube's fault. Something's been odd about 30 FPS videos on Youtube since they added HTML5. They look jumpier than usual. My own video on the game looks like it's frame-rate is affected, too.

I record in 60fps. i don't know if it affects that though.
For the enemy boxes. You have to wait since I have to make a design.

You record in 60 FPS, but are you rendering in 60 FPS?

Because I viewed the video on Firefox Aurora and your video didn't give me the 720p60 option.

Yeah I render in 60. Must be the browser then.
